The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have agreed to suspend the nationwide strike for at least, one week. Both unions have been on strike since midnight on Monday over disagreements on a national minimum wage.

President of the TUC, Festus Osifo, confirmed the new development in Abuja on Tuesday after a joint extraordinary national executive council meeting of the unions.

“A joint NEC meeting of TUC/NLC has approved to relax the industrial action for one week with immediate effect and A communique will be issued shortly,” Osifo said.

The strike action had grounded activities nationwide including shutting down aviation operations and the national power grid.
