The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has announced a ban on all Durbar activities during the 2025 Eid-El-Fitr Sallah celebration in the state.
Bakori made the announcement on Friday during a press briefing, citing security concerns and emphasizing the need for a peaceful atmosphere during the festivities.
He revealed that security assessments indicate growing tensions associated with the Durbar, which could lead to a breakdown of law and order.
“Following credible intelligence reports of orchestrated plans by miscreants and their sponsors to exploit the Durbar for disruptive activities, the Command, in consultation with the Kano State Government and other key stakeholders, has decided to prohibit all Durbar activities across the state,” Bakori said.
He also urged residents of the state to comply with security guidelines while celebrating Sallah and warned against reckless driving, racing, and any activity that could lead to a breach of peace.
“As we celebrate, let us remember that peace is paramount. We must put aside our differences and work together as law-abiding citizens for the progress of our state and nation,” he added.
