The 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has appointed his elder brother, Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero, as the new Galadiman Kano.
The appointment comes after the death of the former Galadiman Kano, Abbas Sanusi, who passed away in March after a long illness.
Sanusi Ado Bayero, a former Ciroman Kano and District Head of Gwale, was once seen as the natural successor to their late father, Emir Ado Bayero, but left Kano in 2014 when his nephew, Muhammadu Sanusi II, became Emir. He later returned to the Emirate Council in 2020 as Wamban Kano.
A lawyer and former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Sanusi Ado Bayero has had a long career in public service.
The appointment was confirmed after a Kano Emirate Council meeting chaired by the Emir.
