On Tuesday, bandits attacked a Mobile Police (Mopol) base in Garagi, Yartsamiyar Jino Village, within the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, leaving six people dead.
Local sources confirmed that four security officers lost their lives in the attack, with one officer sustaining injuries. The attackers also seized the officers’ rifles during the assault.
Tragically, two civilians from the community were also killed during the raid. A resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the bandits set fire to classrooms at the primary school in Tsamiyar Jino, where security personnel had set up camp.
Attempts to obtain a comment from the Katsina State Police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
