The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has announced plans to shut down polytechnics across the country starting December 2, citing the Federal Government’s failure to meet its demands.
Comrade Abubakar J. Abdullah, Kaduna Polytechnic Chapter Chairman, highlighted unresolved issues, including the release of NEEDS Assessment funds, salary reviews, promotion arrears, and unpaid allowances.
ASUP warned of a total shutdown unless the government initiates meaningful dialogue and implements solutions to the systemic challenges affecting polytechnics. The union stresses that quality education is essential for the nation’s future.
