Soldiers from the 6th brigade of the Nigerian army under operation “whirl stoke” in Taraba state have cleared a kidnappers’ camp and rescued some kidnapped victims.
The acting director army public relations, lieutenant Oni Olubodunde said in a statement issued on Tuesday, April 30th, that the kidnappers’ camp was located at Punkun area of Fikyu in Ussa local government area of the state.
Olubodunde further stated that the soldiers who were working on intelligent reports also recovered several arms and ammunition. He added that troops deployed at Kufai Amadu and Kasuwan Haske, in collaboration with troops from sub-sector 1a of operation “whirl stoke” OPWS also cleared a hideout of terrorists in Vingir village of Katsina-Ala local government area of Benue state.
The army spokesman stated that the terrorists were engaged with superior firepower of the troops, leading to their withdrawal in disarray, as well as the arrest of a suspected kidnapper named Dogo Manu, who was found in possession of 2 mobile phones and some cash.
He said a further search at the kidnappers’ camp led to the recovery of 1 AK 47 rifle.
