APC’s Okpebholo Wins Edo Guber Polls.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Monday Okpebholo, winner of the hotly contested gubernatorial election in Edo state.

The returning officer in the election, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, who is the Vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, announced that Okpebholo polled 291,667 votes to defeat his arch rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) who secured 247,274 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Olumide Akpata, came distant third with 22,763 votes.

The returns show the APC won in 11 local government areas while the PDP won seven.
