Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has prohibited loud preaching in public spaces, particularly markets, warning that violators will face a ₦500,000 fine for noise pollution.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Soludo was seen cautioning a roadside preacher, emphasizing that markets are not churches and urging him to find an appropriate venue for his activities.
“If you want to preach, go to a church where people who want to listen can come to you. You cannot force traders and passersby to hear your message,” he said.
The governor reaffirmed that the state is taking action against noise pollution and unregulated street preaching, stressing that enforcement will be strict.
