The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced that full electricity supply will return to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on February 23.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Monday, AEDC said the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is working round the clock to repair an underground transmission line near Millennium Park that was damaged by vandals.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has assured that restoration efforts are actively ongoing, with their engineers working day and night to replace and reconnect the damaged cable. TCN is committed to completing the work and restoring normal power supply to the Central Area Transmission Substation (AT5) on February 23,” the statement read.

AEDC apologized for the prolonged outage affecting several areas, including Wuye, Utako, Jabi, Mabushi, Katampe, Life Camp, Wuse (Zones 1-7), Wuse 2, Maitama, parts of the Central Business District (CBD), and surrounding locations.

The power disruption was caused by the vandalization of the 132kV Katampe–Central Area underground transmission cable.
