The body of Nollywood Actor, John Paul Odonwodo, popular called Junior Pope was finally laid to rest amidst tears in his hometown, Ukehe, in Nsukka, Igboetiti local government area of Enugu state.
Initial pictures streaming in appear to show his wife and young children clad in all white and in very sorrowful mood.
Family, friends and well wishers gathered to pay their last respect to the talented actor and the raw emotions which greeted the initial announcement of his passing are resurfacing.
The funeral service was held at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish, Ukehe, in Enugu State and witnessed by some of his friends and colleagues including actor Zubby Michael.
Recall that Pope sadly passed away in a tragic boat accident that claimed the lives of four others on April 10. He and the crew were on their way back from shooting a movie scene when their boat capsized on the Anam River in Anambra State.
After a bit of confusion, with rumours flying around the actor may have survived, the president of the actor guild of Nigeria (AGN) Emeka Rollas, confirmed the actor’s death writing “Following the tragic incident of a boat mishap that claimed the life of Junior Pope and three other crew members at waterside of River Niger Cable point Asaba on 10th of April, all films that involve riverine areas and boat riding is hereby suspended indefinitely. No Shoot on all locations nationwide on Thursday, April 11, 2024, and the film titled The Other Side of Life is suspended indefinitely.”
