The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has officially renamed the Abuja International Conference Centre (AICC) after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking on Tuesday at the commissioning ceremony in Abuja, Wike announced the new name—Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre—while praising the upgraded facility as a world-class structure that reflects the president’s commitment to infrastructure development.
Wike emphasised that all users of the facility, regardless of social or political status, would be required to pay for its use, stressing the need for proper maintenance.
Originally built in 1991 during the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida, the centre had fallen into disrepair over the years. In March, Wike revealed that the ongoing renovation would cost the government N39 billion.
