Just about 48-hours after gunmen kidnapped Mr. Joshua Rogers, a journalist with Channels TV, near his residence at Rumuosi in Obio/Akpor local government area of rivers state, the reporter has regained his freedom.
The journalist was said to have regain his freedom at about 10pm on friday.
One of Rogers’ colleagues with Channels TV in Portharcourt, Charles Opuorum, confirmed his release to journalists on Friday night.
The kidnappers reportedly accosted him at gunpoint, whisking him away in his car.
The hoodlums contacted his wife, demanding ₦30 million as ransom.
It is not clear if any ransom was paid for his release.
Also confirming the news, the management of Channels television released a statement, saying;
“The statement reads: “Channels Television reporter, Joshua Rogers, who was abducted last night in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has been freed.
“We thank our viewers and all those who expressed concern over the unfortunate incident.”
There is also a video showing Rogers celebrating with his family after he regained his freedom.
The Police and the Department of State Services, DSS, had launched rescue efforts during his abduction but are yet to make an official statement on the release.
