The Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, says six kilometres—three on each side—have been completed using rigid concrete pavement on the Abuja-Kaduna highway project.
During an inspection of the Zuba section, Goronyo commended the contractor, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, for the quality of work, describing it as aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He said the reinforced pavement is designed to last up to 100 years and will ease travel, boost trade, improve security, and create jobs.
Project Manager Robert Turner noted that work runs daily from 6am to 9pm despite security challenges, while the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Engr. Olufunsho Adebiyi, stressed that rigid pavement is more durable than traditional asphalt, especially for Nigeria’s terrain.
He urged road users to be patient, assuring that completed sections will be opened in phases to reduce disruptions.
