Syrian state media said Israeli strikes hit an Iranian consular annex in the capital on April 1, while a war monitor reported eight people were killed and Iranian state media said a senior commander of the powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was among the dead, amid rising regional tensions due to the Gaza war. Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports that Israel’s week‑long air campaign has killed over 650 people in Iran (including 263 civilians and 164 military) and wounded more than 2,000.

Strikes have hit 21 provinces, targeting both military sites and civilian infrastructure—destroying hospitals, factories, and a children’s hospital in Tehran (no injuries reported there yet).

Israel says the attacks aim to slow Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, citing last week’s destruction of nuclear sites and top commanders.

With the death toll rising, international leaders are warning against escalation amid growing alarm over humanitarian impacts.
