64 Plateau Communities Under Bandit Control – Gov Muftwang

Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State has raised alarm over rising insecurity, revealing that 64 communities in the state have been taken over by armed bandits.

In an interview with Channels Television, Muftwang blamed terrorist groups for the attacks, alleging that they are being sponsored by unidentified individuals. He described the violence as a “genocide” orchestrated by organized criminals.

“These attacks have been ongoing for almost a decade, and they seem to be aimed at wiping out entire communities,” Muftwang said. He highlighted areas in Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom Local Governments as being most affected, where bandits have renamed and resettled on lands previously occupied by residents.

Muftwang stressed that the crisis is not just about farmer-herder clashes but is a product of planned violence. He remains hopeful that security forces will soon unite to address the threat. “The people of Plateau will overcome this, and the criminals’ days are numbered,” he assured.
