At least 62 kidnapped victims have regained freedom after the Nigerian military bombed bandits’ hideouts in Danmusa LGA of Katsina State.
The captives, held for over a month, fled when their abductors abandoned camp during Saturday’s air raid near the Zamfara border.
Officials said 12 of the escapees are receiving treatment in Matazu, while others are under military care. Most were abducted from Sayaya village during an attack by notorious bandit leader Muhammadu Fulani.
The state government has since deployed an Air Force Quick Response Wing to protect vulnerable communities.
