At least 30 people were killed in attacks on Katsina-Ala and Logo Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Benue State between Sunday and early Monday.
Residents reported 10 bodies recovered in Katsina-Ala and 20 in Logo, with widespread destruction of property.
A community leader in Logo, Chief Joseph Anawah, said over 300 armed men attacked Azege settlement in Tombo Ward on Sunday morning. “The attackers were heavily armed and outnumbered security operatives. Over 20 bodies have been recovered, and the search for missing persons is ongoing,” he said.
In Katsina-Ala, Council Chairman Justine Shaku said assailants stormed Adabo village and Tse Gwebe in Utange Ward early Monday, killing many and looting homes. Logo Chairman Clement Kav added that 17 people were killed in Tombo Ward, with 37 others injured.
Police spokesperson Catherine Anene confirmed the incident but said five bodies had been recovered so far.
Residents are calling for stronger security measures to prevent further violence.
