The Kebbi State Police Command has apprehended three suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group for allegedly attempting to bribe a lead investigator with ₦1.6 million to derail an ongoing banditry investigation.
In a statement released Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, identified the suspects as Umaru Garba, Alhaji Abubakar Mamman, and Usman Muhammadu. The trio reportedly conspired to offer detectives the bribe in exchange for compromising the investigation and prosecution of a banditry case linked to the Lakurawa group.
“The suspects were immediately taken into custody, and a thorough investigation is underway,” SP Abubakar said.
The statement further highlighted the unwavering commitment of the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello M. Sani, to combat banditry and other criminal activities in the region. He reassured residents that the command remains resolute in its efforts to restore peace and create an environment conducive to socio-economic growth.
