At least three (3) people were confirmed killed while and 30 others, including a Pastor and several other worshippers were kidnapped after bandits reportedly attacked a church in the Bakinpah-Maro community of Kajuru local government area of Kaduna State on Sunday.
Mr. Cafra Caino, a former chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, confirmed the incident to reporters and said 30 persons were kidnapped.
Caino said the bandits arrived around 10am in large numbers, shot sporadically in the air, targeting the ECWA and Catholic churches in the community.
He disclosed that a pastor of one of the churches Bernard Gajera, was among those kidnapped by the hoodlums.
“The terrorists, who arrived around 10:00am in large numbers, targeted the ECWA and Catholic church. Among those abducted is Bernard Gajera, a pastor from one of the churches,” Caino said.
Recall the community had raised funds to build a security post, last month, for law enforcement agencies as part of their efforts to attract more security personnel and presence in their community following repeated attacks that have kept farmers from their farms.
The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) ASP Munsir Hassan could not be reached for reaction as at the time of filing this report.
