Police in Rivers State have arrested a 23-year-old man, Kingsley Chinamezu, also known as Power Sharp, for allegedly killing his 44-year-old girlfriend, Miss Confidence Konebari Sunny.
The suspect reportedly attacked the victim with a machete on July 30 in Umuebule community, Etche Local Government Area, before fleeing to Egbeta village in Edo State.
Police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday. She said the suspect was tracked down by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and confessed to the crime during interrogation.
According to the police, Chinamezu is also being profiled for possible involvement in other crimes and will be charged to court after investigations.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, commended the operatives for the swift arrest and assured the public that criminals will not go unpunished.
