Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, says he’s confident of defeating his predecessor, Bello Matawalle, “before 10am” on the 2027 election day.
Speaking on Channels TV, Lawal dismissed rumours of defecting from the PDP to the APC, saying he’s staying put. “When I contested in 2023, all the APC heavyweights were there, yet I won,” he said.
On Matawalle, now Minister of State for Defence, Lawal said: “I’m praying he emerges as APC candidate. It’ll be a walkover, InshaAllah.”
He also downplayed PDP’s internal crisis, noting, “Every party has issues. We’re fixing ours.” Despite being in different parties, he said he maintains a respectful relationship with President Tinubu.
