Nigeria has deployed 197 soldiers to The Gambia for peacekeeping under the ECOWAS Mission (ECOMIG). The troops completed training at the Martin Luther Agwai Centre in Jaji, Kaduna.
At the graduation ceremony, Maj. Gen. Isyaka Mainia, representing the Chief of Operations, urged the troops to maintain discipline, stay impartial, and respect local laws. He warned against misconduct, especially sexual abuse, saying violations will be punished.
The Commandant, Maj. Gen. Ademola Adedoja, said the soldiers were well-prepared for their mission and tasked with upholding Nigeria’s global peacekeeping reputation.
