The Oyo State Police Command has rescued 19 Ghanaian nationals from a suspected human trafficking ring in Ibadan.
Police spokesman Adewale Osifeso said in a statement on Sunday that the victims—14 men and 5 women—were lured into Nigeria with false promises of jobs.
The operation, based on credible intelligence, took place at a locked building in the Kajorepo area of Akinyele LGA. Officers from the State CID and tactical teams raided the property and rescued the victims.
All of them have been handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service for further investigation and possible return to Ghana.
Osifeso said the command remains committed to tracking down those behind the trafficking network and ensuring justice is served.
