Troops under Operation Hadin Kai have arrested 18 soldiers, 15 policemen, and 8 civilians — including a traditional ruler — suspected of supplying arms and ammunition to Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.
The arrests took place across 11 states, including Borno, Lagos, Kaduna, and the Federal Capital Territory, under Operation Snowball launched in August 2024 to fight ammunition racketeering.
Investigations revealed that some suspects, including two soldiers and a policeman, held millions of naira suspected to be proceeds from illegal arms sales. One soldier was arrested recently carrying 30 rounds of ammunition in Kano.
Those found guilty have been dismissed and handed over to the police for prosecution. The military is intensifying efforts to cut off terrorist supply chains and uphold human rights during operations.
