A suspected bomb explosion has claimed at least 12 lives in Yar Tasha village, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The incident occurred early in the morning when a commercial vehicle ran over an explosive device suspected to have been planted by bandits.
This marks the second bombing on the Dansadau Road in a week, with a similar attack last Sunday killing a driver. Residents reported that the blast shattered the vehicle and caused injuries to several passengers, who were rushed to Dansadau General Hospital.
A local resident attributed the attack to bandits exploiting recent community road repairs to plant the device. Security forces, including soldiers and police, have been deployed to the area.
The incident underscores the growing threat of banditry in Zamfara, with residents urging the government to address this alarming tactic. Without decisive action, locals fear road travel may become untenable.
