The helicopter crash that killed former Access Holdings CEO Herbert Wigwe, his wife, son, and three others was caused by the pilot’s poor judgment and the helicopter company’s negligence, a U.S. report has confirmed.
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said the pilot flew into bad weather despite low visibility and a faulty radar altimeter. He became disoriented and crashed near the California-Nevada border on February 9, 2024.
The report also blamed the company for weak safety oversight and ignoring flight risk warnings.
