A British woman has made history by giving birth after receiving a womb transplant — the first successful case in the UK.
Grace Davidson, 36, was born without a womb. In early 2023, she received one from her sister, Amy, through a transplant at Oxford Transplant Centre.
After IVF treatment, Grace delivered a healthy baby girl via caesarean in February 2025. She named the baby Amy Isabel, honouring her sister and one of the lead surgeons, Miss Isabel Quiroga.
Doctors described the birth as a major medical milestone, giving hope to women who can’t conceive due to medical conditions. The charity Womb Transplant UK, which funded the operation, plans to support more women through similar procedures.
