TCN Blames Grid Collapse on Line Tripping

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has attributed Wednesday’s power grid disturbance to the tripping of the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.

TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, explained that while the Benin-Egbin 330kV line was under scheduled maintenance, the unexpected tripping led to outages in Lagos, Abuja, and Osogbo.

She clarified that reports of a total grid collapse were inaccurate, as other parts of the grid remained unaffected. According to her, the affected line has been restored, and normal supply resumed.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) also confirmed the disturbance, saying power supply was disrupted at 11:38 AM but was gradually being restored.

TCN reassured Nigerians of its commitment to ensuring grid stability and efficient electricity transmission.
