Workers in Kaduna, Nasarawa, Ebonyi, and Cross River states began a one-week warning strike on Monday, demanding the implementation of the new national minimum wage and necessary wage adjustments.
In Nasarawa, public offices, including the State House of Assembly and ministries, were shut down after the government failed to provide written agreements, despite verbal commitments.
Kaduna also saw government offices locked, while unions in Cross River rejected a proposed N70,000 minimum wage, citing unresolved issues like delayed salaries.
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi threatened disciplinary action against striking workers, while Ekiti State workers are not participating, due to a scheduled implementation in December 2024.
Labour leaders are steadfast in holding governments accountable to the national wage policy.
