The Ogun State Government has shut down 45 establishments and sanctioned 175 others for violating noise pollution laws.

Commissioner for Environment, Dr Ola Oresanya, revealed this on Wednesday in a statement marking the 2025 International Noise Awareness Day.

He said most offenders were religious centres, entertainment spots, and commercial outlets, adding that noise pollution is a growing public health concern.

Oresanya reminded residents of the state’s noise limits: 50 decibels for residential areas during the day, and 35 at night. For worship, entertainment, and commercial places, it’s 60 decibels by day and 40 at night.

He urged compliance and said the government will continue awareness campaigns to promote voluntary adherence.
