The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) imported 136.7 million litres of petrol in a single day, raising questions about the status of local refineries.
A document reviewed by Daily Trust showed the shipment arrived on February 10 through Lagos ports, costing approximately N126.5 billion at the current landing price of N925 per litre.
This comes despite reports that the Warri and Port Harcourt refineries have resumed operations. Industry experts question why imports remain high when Nigeria’s daily consumption is about 30 million litres.
Meanwhile, petrol prices have dropped slightly at some Lagos stations, with MRS selling at N925 per litre following a price cut by Dangote Refinery.
