Nnamdi Kanu Case Left in Limbo After Courtroom Uproar

0

A Federal High Court in Abuja has indefinitely suspended the trial of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu on terrorism charges after he disrupted proceedings by protesting the trial’s continuation. Kanu, who had previously called for the judge’s recusal over a disputed Supreme Court ruling on his bench warrant, interrupted the session, prompting the court to put the case on hold.

Kanu was first arrested in 2015 on charges that included treasonable felony and defamation of former President Buhari, with his charges later amended to terrorism-related offenses. Although he was granted bail in 2017, his release was revoked after he fled during a military incursion in Abia State that resulted in multiple fatalities.

The court’s decision leaves Kanu’s prosecution suspended indefinitely as legal arguments over procedural issues continue.
