Nigeria requires 11.6 million more toilets to achieve its goal of ending open defecation by 2030, stated Water Resources Minister, Prof. Joseph Utsev.
Speaking in Abuja, he noted progress but highlighted challenges in ensuring widespread access and usage.
Utsev admitted budget shortfalls, with only half of the N10 billion needed released so far.
Despite support from partners like UNICEF, he emphasized that achieving this target involves more than just building toilets; it’s about improving health, dignity, and safety for Nigerians.
