Some students had been billed to benefit from the Nasarawa state government palliative and were issued I.D cards to admit them into the venue where the distribution was to take place.
A lot of students gathered at the venue in the early hours of the day, laid siege on the arena, overpowered the security, and broke into the warehouse, resulting in the stampede.
Trust tv gathered that the students did not wait for the state government officials to commence the distribution of the items, as earlier scheduled and the ensuing infractions resulted in the tragedy.
