Former Kano State Governor and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed claims of a power-sharing agreement between himself and opposition candidates Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).

In an interview with the BBC, Kwankwaso expressed frustration over the rumours, describing them as baseless fabrications. According to him, the allegations have been propagated by some groups close to Atiku, including clerics, to mislead the public.

“This issue angers me deeply,” Kwankwaso said. “Respected elders are spreading lies about something that never happened. I was told that nearly 45 clerics were gathered and informed about this fabricated story. They claimed I had agreed to a deal where Atiku would serve for four years, I would serve for another four, and Peter Obi would serve for eight. It’s completely false. No such agreement exists.”

He further criticized the PDP, stating that he left the party due to what he described as humiliation and mistreatment of himself and his supporters. “This is exactly why we left the PDP,” he explained. “Myself, Peter Obi, Wike, and others all walked away because of such dishonesty. Now they’re coming back, asking us to support those who humiliated us to achieve their objectives.”

Kwankwaso reaffirmed his commitment to the NNPP, emphasizing that he has found peace since his departure from the PDP and has no interest in revisiting alliances with those he believes failed him and his supporters.
