Kano Governor Approves ₦1.9 Billion For Renovation of Classrooms.

The Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, announced he has approved and disbursed cheques totaling over ₦1.9 billion to chairmen of the Community Re-orientation Committee (CRC) for the renovation of primary school classrooms across all 44 local government areas, as part of the response measures to the state of emergency declared in education.

The governor also announced he set aside the sum of two billion, nine hundred and twenty-five thousand, one hundred and forty naira (₦2,925,140,591.60) for construction of additional classrooms in public primary schools.

According to a post made to the governor’s social media account, more measures are expected to be rolled out soon to address the deuterating state of the education sector in the state.

The state government also announced moves to bolster security and safeguard public educational facilities. The state initiated the immediate employment of 17,600 security guards, with a minimum of 400 guards allocated to each local government areas to protect public schools.
