The trial of the former governor of Kano state, Abdulahi Ganduje, suffered a temporary pause on Wednesday, owing to the inability of the kano state government, through its anti-graft agency, to serve criminal charges on the now suspended national chairman of the All-Progressives’ Congress, (APC).
Engineer Abdullahi Ganduje, and other respondents were, therefore, not in court as expected, on Wednesday, for their anticipated arraignment before a Kano high court.
Ganduje, his wife, son and six others are facing an eight-count charge bothering on bribery allegations, allege diversion and misappropriation of public funds that including the sum of $413,000 and ₦1.38 billion bribery, among others.
Parties in the suit as respondents are Abdullahi Ganduje, Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash properties Ltd, Safari textiles Ltd and Lesage general enterprises.
Kano state government in the criminal suit filed against the 8 respondents said it has assembled 15 witnesses to appear before the court.
At the resumed hearing before Justice Usman Mallam Na’abba, only the 6th respondent through his counsel, Nureini Jimoh was present in court while the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th respondents were absent in court.
The matter was adjourned till 29th April 2024.
