President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved free healthcare for low-income retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).
He also directed that overdue pension increases and a minimum pension guarantee be implemented to support the most vulnerable pensioners.
The directive followed a briefing by the Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Omolola Oloworaran, at the State House.
Tinubu further ordered a swift resolution to the long-standing police pension issue, saying retired officers must be treated with dignity.
The PenCom DG also briefed the President on reforms to protect pension assets from inflation and efforts to include Nigerians in the diaspora in the scheme through foreign currency contributions.
