In Abuja on Friday, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede voiced concern over Nigerians’ conflicting attitudes toward corruption. Speaking during a visit by officials from the Centre for Crisis Communication, he observed that while many citizens denounce corruption, they often back corrupt leaders when they face legal scrutiny.
Olukoyede emphasized that corruption and financial crimes are major impediments to Nigeria’s development, insisting that progress depends on both government action and individual integrity. “It’s not just the government’s job—if every Nigerian resolves to do the right thing, we can truly move forward,” he said.
The EFCC chief urged citizens to support anti-corruption efforts and hold leaders accountable, noting that collective responsibility is key to overcoming underdevelopment.
