Edo Gov Adds N5k to Minimum Wage, Raises It to N75k

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has increased the minimum wage for state workers by ₦5,000—raising it from ₦70,000 to ₦75,000.

Speaking at the May Day celebration in Benin City, the governor said the move was aimed at improving the lives of workers and acknowledging their efforts.

“We believe this will make a real difference,” he said, assuring workers of his administration’s continued commitment to their welfare.

He also highlighted recent reforms including the conversion of over 1,000 casual staff to permanent roles, recruitment of 500 teachers, and the hiring of 450 health workers.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Edo State praised the wage increase, describing it as a welcome relief for workers and pensioners.
