Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, says a powerful oil cabal is still trying to frustrate his $20bn refinery project.
Speaking at an investor forum in Lagos, Dangote said those who benefited from subsidised fuel imports are resisting efforts to make Nigeria self-sufficient.
“These groups are funding opposition to fuel subsidy removal and trying to block our refinery,” he said.
He added, “We’re still fighting, but I’ve faced tougher battles. I’m confident we’ll win.”
Dangote had previously revealed that both local and foreign interests made several attempts to stop the refinery from becoming a reality.
