A Federal High Court in Abuja has given the Federal Government 45 days to wrap up its decade-long trial of former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), over alleged unlawful possession of firearms and money laundering.
Justice Peter Lifu fixed September 24, 25, and 26 for the continuation of the case, warning the prosecution to call its remaining witnesses or tender all exhibits before the deadline.
At Tuesday’s hearing, DSS exhibit keeper Monsur Mohammed testified that items seized from Dasuki’s homes in Abuja, Kaduna, and Sokoto included electronic gadgets, cheque books, foreign currency, and documents.
Dasuki, accused of misappropriating $2.1 billion meant for arms procurement in 2015, was released in December 2019 after years in detention despite several court orders granting him bail. He also faces separate EFCC charges over N19.4 billion arms funds alongside ex-minister Bashir Yuguda, former Sokoto governor Attahiru Bafarawa, and others.
