The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari have departed London for Katsina ahead of his burial in Daura.
Footage aired by Channels TV on Tuesday morning showed the body being airlifted aboard the Nigerian presidential jet.
President Bola Tinubu is expected to receive the body at Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila were sent earlier to accompany the remains back home.
When Daily Trust visited Daura, security had been tightened, with DSS operatives, soldiers, police, and NSCDC personnel stationed around Buhari’s residence. A source confirmed that grave preparations had begun.
