Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the party has lost its way.
In a letter dated July 14 and addressed to his ward chairman in Adamawa, Atiku said the PDP no longer reflects the ideals he once believed in.
He thanked the party for the opportunities it gave him, including serving as vice president and contesting twice as its presidential candidate.
Atiku is currently backing a new opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
