President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has landed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, arriving at King Abdulaziz International Airport at around 10:00 a.m. local time on Sunday. The president was welcomed by Riyadh’s Deputy Governor, Prince Mohammed AbdulRahman.
During the summit, Tinubu is expected to call for an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, emphasizing Nigeria’s stance for peaceful resolution. His special adviser, Bayo Onanuga, noted that the summit, hosted by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aims to address Middle East tensions and build on discussions from last year’s gathering in Riyadh.
Tinubu will also advocate for renewed efforts towards a two-state solution, stressing the need for lasting peace in the region. Accompanying him are Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Information Minister Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
The summit’s agenda underscores the importance of international dialogue in addressing the Middle East crisis, with Nigeria actively participating in discussions for a viable resolution.
