The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) reported on Monday that 1,313 migrants, including over 160 women and 60 children, were rescued off the Libyan coast between January 19 and 25.
The IOM also confirmed the recovery of two bodies during the operations. So far in 2025, 1,806 migrants have been intercepted and returned to Libya, while 32 lives have been lost on the Central Mediterranean route.
Libya remains a key departure point for migrants attempting dangerous crossings to Europe, fueled by the ongoing instability since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
