The United States has approved the sale of precision bombs, rockets, missiles, and other ammunition worth $346 million to Nigeria.

According to the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the package is aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and curbing illicit trafficking in the country and the Gulf of Guinea.

Nigeria’s request includes over 1,000 MK-82 bombs, 5,000 advanced precision-guided rockets, and various bomb components, fuzes, and support equipment. The deal also covers technical, engineering, and logistics support from US contractors Lockheed Martin, RTX Missiles and Defence, and BAE Systems.

The DSCA said the sale will boost Nigeria’s ability to counter current and future threats while reinforcing security ties between both nations.
