U.S. President Donald Trump has reignited his feud with Elon Musk, accusing the tech billionaire of building his fortune on taxpayer subsidies.
The clash came after Musk, who until May chaired the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), criticised lawmakers over a spending bill and threatened to start a new “America Party” if it passed.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said: “Without U.S. subsidies, Musk would probably have to close up shop and head back to South Africa.” He also suggested DOGE should investigate Musk’s financial gains: “BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!”
The spat marks a renewed escalation in the pair’s rocky relationship.
