Donald Trump has unveiled a new initiative aimed at reducing government waste and restructuring federal agencies. The newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.) will be led by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and political figure Vivek Ramaswamy. Trump praised both appointees, highlighting their vision to tackle excessive bureaucracy and streamline operations.

The project, which Trump described as a potential “Manhattan Project” for government reform, aims to cut wasteful spending and create a leaner, more efficient federal system. According to Trump, Musk and Ramaswamy will collaborate with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to implement sweeping changes, including a focus on reducing the country’s $6.5 trillion in annual government spending.

Musk, in his statement, emphasized the impact the initiative could have on dismantling inefficiencies and cutting through red tape. He noted that many critics have claimed NNPC and other agencies have faced pushback, but asserted that their approach will focus on “structural reform.”

The overhaul is expected to be completed by July 4, 2026, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. Trump believes the plan will offer a “perfect gift” to the nation, delivering a streamlined government that is accountable to its citizens. He expressed confidence in the leadership of Musk and Ramaswamy, stating that their efforts would benefit all Americans, reduce inflationary pressures, and stabilize the dollar by eliminating waste and fraud in government spending.
