The House of Representatives has passed for second reading a bill mandating at least 15% female representation in the Armed Forces.
Sponsored by Hon. Kafilat Ogbara (APC, Lagos), the bill aims to boost gender inclusivity in recruitment, training, appointments, and operations.
Ogbara said the goal is to correct women’s underrepresentation and ensure fairness in the military.
The bill also proposes a gender compliance unit to track progress and accountability.
It now moves to the House Committee on Defence for further action.
